About us

Like most dealers I began collecting when I was about 6 years of age. Like most children my collection was a basic world collection.

At the age of 9 my father decided to restart collecting. Luckily his mother had kept his childhood collection (and his 4 sibling’s collections) and these collections became the basis of his collecting.

He decided to collect only British Commonwealth issues hence my interest in this area of collecting.
Over the next 30 years I maintained an interest, mainly collecting Australian issues.
In my early 40’s I became more active in collecting and started attending local Perth stamp shows and getting to know the local dealers.
Around 2004 I began assisting a local part time dealer and my interest in becoming a dealer myself developed.

I started my own business in 2013.

It took my wife and myself 12 months to decide on a business name and eventually settled on Kenton Philatelics. The word Kenton comes from my family history on my maternal great grandparents’ side who migrated from England in the early 1900’s. They originally came from the small town of Kenton in Northumberland. After first settling in Laverton Western Australia they moved to Kendenup Western Australia in approximately 1922 and purchased a small farm holding. The farm was called Kenton in recognition of their hometown. The farm was subsequently passed on to my grandfather and then my uncle and remained in the family until the death of my uncle in 2009.

I am a licensed Auctioneer and conduct auctions for clubs which I am a member of plus groups who organise local stamp auctions.
